Demolition or Removal? They Are Not the Same Job

People use the words interchangeably, but they describe two different jobs with different equipment, different costs, and different paperwork.

Ocala Mobile Home Removal connects Marion County property owners with independent, licensed demolition and removal providers. We do not perform demolition work ourselves.

Demolition: the home is taken apart where it stands

Equipment breaks the structure down on site, the debris is separated where there is salvage value, and the rest is hauled to a receiving facility. The pad is left cleared to whatever standard was agreed.

This is what happens to most older units. If a home is water-damaged, structurally tired, or was never going to survive a move, demolition is usually both cheaper and the only realistic option.

It is a permitted demolition — see permits and process.

Removal: the home leaves intact

The home is prepared, lifted, and towed away in one or more sections to be resited or resold. It needs a home worth moving, a route that can take it, and often transport permits on top of the demolition-side paperwork.

This is the path where a home can be worth something rather than costing something — see free removal. It applies to a much smaller share of units than owners expect.

How to tell which one you are looking at

Age and condition decide it more than anything. A sound, reasonably modern unit with an intact frame and no significant water damage may be movable. An older single-wide with a soft floor and roof damage almost certainly is not.

Access decides the rest. Moving a home intact needs a route wide enough for it — which is a different and often harder question than whether an excavator can reach the lot.

You do not have to work this out yourself. Describe the home and the approach, and a provider will tell you which job it is when they quote.
